Empowering Farmers. Strengthening Value Chains.Feeding the Future.

Uganda’s agriculture sector employs over 70% of the workforce, yet rural farmers still face low yields, post-harvest losses, and poor market access. Princo addresses these challenges by building value chains that deliver real income, equity, and sustainability for farming families.

What We Do

What Princo Group (U) LTD is Doing

Princo Group (U) Ltd is transforming agriculture across Northern Uganda by working directly with smallholder farmers to strengthen value chains, add value to oilseed crops, and improve livelihoods. Our core work centers around refined sesame products, extension services, market linkages, and sustainable agriculture systems. Through inclusive approaches, we’re building resilient farming communities while connecting them to reliable local and international markets.

Our Core Services

1. Oilseed Value Chain Development

We specialize in sesame grain processing, supplying refined sesame grain, oil, and cake. Our products are certified organic and tailored to both domestic and export markets. We work with farmers from seed to market—ensuring quality, traceability, and market-ready supply.

2. Farmer Training & Extension Services

Princo delivers land-based and digital e-extension services to thousands of farmers. We train on post-harvest handling, quality assurance, climate-smart agriculture, and financial literacy—empowering farmers to adopt better practices and increase yields sustainably.

3. Agro-Processing & Post-Harvest Support

We clean, dry, refine, and package grains at our facilities and offer access to appropriate storage. Our post-harvest services reduce losses and increase market value—unlocking better prices for our farmer network.

4. Market Linkages & Off-Take Agreements

Princo directly connects farmers and cooperatives to dependable buyers—locally and internationally. Through forward contracts and bulk aggregation, we eliminate market uncertainty and offer competitive pricing.

5. Climate-Smart Agriculture & Environmental Stewardship

We promote environmentally friendly farming practices, such as efficient water use, organic inputs, and agroforestry systems. Our model includes quick-yielding sesame varieties and soil regeneration strategies to boost long-term productivity.

6. Financial Inclusion & Certifications

We support smallholders with financial literacy, links to financing, and certification assistance (including organic compliance and quality grading), giving them an edge in high-value markets.

7. Consultancy & Agribusiness Advisory

Through years of expertise in Uganda’s oilseed sector, we offer consulting services to NGOs, cooperatives, agribusinesses, and development agencies. This includes value chain analysis, feasibility studies, and business strategy.

Promoting Coffee & Cocoa Farming in Northern Uganda

We're not just introducing new crops—we're building sustainable systems that offer long-term value to farming communities. Our program supports smallholder farmers from seedling to sale by integrating training, resources, and market access in one inclusive model.

How We Support Farmers

Seedling Access

We provide high-quality, climate-suited Robusta coffee and cocoa seedlings to smallholder farmers at subsidized rates. These are intercropped with bananas and legumes to improve soil fertility and maximize land use.

📚 Training on Agroforestry Practices

Through local field officers and group-based learning, we train farmers on:

  • Shade management

  • Spacing and planting

  • Pruning and fertilization

  • Integrated pest management

  • Post-harvest handling

This helps farmers establish productive coffee and cocoa systems with high survival rates.

🌳 Climate-Smart Intercropping

Our agroforestry model encourages growing coffee and cocoa under tree cover, improving water retention and resilience to drought. This approach also supports biodiversity and carbon sequestration.

📦 Post-Harvest & Value Addition

We are setting up basic processing trials for drying and fermentation to help farmers maintain bean quality and achieve better prices. These systems will be scaled as production increases.

🤝 Market Linkages & Export Potential

Princo is developing forward-looking partnerships with off-takers and specialty buyers in the coffee and cocoa sectors. Our goal is to create long-term export pathways from Northern Uganda and position farmers in high-value global markets.

🌍 Impact Goals

By 2026, Princo aims to integrate 5,000+ smallholder farmers into its coffee and cocoa pilot systems, across Kole, Lira, Oyam, and Kitgum districts.

This initiative aligns with our broader mission of agricultural transformation through inclusivity, innovation, and sustainability.

As part of our strategy to diversify farmer incomes and build climate resilience, Princo Group is piloting coffee and cocoa agroforestry systems in underserved regions of Northern Uganda—where these crops have historically been underutilized despite their high potential.

We help smallholder farmers in Uganda turn their crops into income—and their farms into thriving agribusinesses.

Over 70% of Uganda’s population relies on agriculture for income, yet many farmers struggle with access to quality inputs, modern training, and dependable buyers. At Princo Group, we work to close these gaps — supporting farmers across Northern Uganda, Karamoja, and Teso to grow profitable crops like sesame, soybeans, maize, sunflower, coffee, and cocoa. By building stronger value chains, linking farmers to reliable markets, and introducing practical, sustainable innovations, we help farmers turn hard work into real opportunity

🌍 Why It Matters

Smallholder farmers feed Uganda — but they deserve to do more than survive. Princo Group exists to ensure they earn fair income, access better tools, and grow with dignity. With the right partnerships and investments, we’re helping farmers unlock their full potential — crop by crop, season by season.

VOICES FROM THE FIELD

"Farming is always about risk, but coffee gives me a reason to think long-term. Princo’s support came at the right time. They taught us how to care for each seedling like an investment — and that’s exactly what it is.”
